Deconstruction is the most sustainable, neighborhood-conscious, and historically sensitive alternative to demolition. Re:Purpose Savannah is a women+ led nonprofit based in Savannah, Georgia, that uses deconstruction techniques to provide material preservation and treat dying structures with dignity. At the city and state level, Re:Purpose Savannah strives to see the development of a Deconstruction Ordinance and forward-thinking solutions for structural removal and the preservation of local history.

Mae Bowley moved to Savannah in 2015. Out of a desire to learn more about the charming and mysterious city, she started taking classes in Historic Preservation and Restoration at Savannah Technical College. When she encountered Emergent Structures (parent organization of Re:Purpose Savannah) in 2018, she fell in love. She was an avid volunteer for six months, and was then hired on as Assistant Executive Director. In 2019 Mae took over as Executive Director.

CR0WD Conversations are held virtually on the first Monday of the month, 5:30-6:30pm. They feature speakers from around the US and beyond who are working to build a circular construction economy in their community. CR0WD Conversations are free and require advance registration.
