A Dive Into the Archives for Preservation Month
Every May, we celebrate Preservation Month to promote the social and economic benefits that historic preservation has in communities across NYS. Our state's historic sites not only give us a sense of place, but also connect us as New Yorkers. We'll be diving into our archives all month long to spotlight some of the historic places we've been lucky enough to be involved with over the years. First up, one of New York's greatest assets: the NYS Barge Canal System. We've been involved with the preservation of the Erie Canal and the rest of New York's canal system in myriad ways. Most recently we named the Canal System to our Seven to Save list of endangered places and are working with colleagues to advocate on behalf of the canal and the communities that rely on it.
Follow us on Instagram for daily posts this month in celebration of the historic sites that make New York special. We truly believe in the power of preservation to strengthen communities and bring us all together — something we can all benefit from, especially now.
