Everardo Jefferson, Commissioner of New York City Landmarks Preservation and the Principal Architect of Weeksville Heritage Center, will share insights into his role, the importance of preservation, and the significance of the historic site. Black Women Building, the keynote conversation between Kenyatta McLean, Preservationist and Co-Director of BlackSpace, and Elizabeth Kennedy, Landscape Architect, will follow. Speakers throughout the day will highlight vast efforts in preserving Black communities across New York’s five boroughs, from built spaces to designated areas.
