Fire Towers grace the peaks of many Adirondack mountains and have enjoyed renewed life and popularity thanks largely to the dedicated work of volunteer-led Friends groups, stewards, partners, and supporters across our region.
In this webinar, Friends of Poke-O-Moonshine Coordinator David Thomas-Train will share a brief history of Adirondack fire towers, the devastating fires that led to their construction, the evolution of fire tower design, along with a more detailed history of the preservation and restoration of the Poke-O-Moonshine Fire Tower. David will also share the Friends’ recent and ongoing trail rehabilitation efforts.
This webinar is FREE and open to public and is hosted by Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) and co-sponsored by the Forest Fire Lookout Association and the Friends of Poke-O-Moonshine.
